FAQs about Pet Portraits

What do I need to provide to have Lacy paint my pet?

A photo of your pet. Lacy works best using one good photo, but please send as many as you’d like for her to see. Here are some tips to take the best photo.

A background color suggestion, or two, if you have them.

We paint pet portraits in order of payment received and require payment in full before beginning. Book your pet portrait here.

What medium does Lacy use to paint pet portraits?

Every pet portrait is hand painted by Lacy using acrylic on canvas.

How long will it take?

Painting is fun but can be fickle. We generally estimate between 8-12 weeks, but it can vary depending on size and how many pets we’re painting.

I need my pet portrait by a certain date, can she make it work?

It’s sometimes possible. Please be sure to ask before purchasing to make sure!

How many pets can fit on the canvas?

Unless you choose The Multiples option, one pet will be painted on the canvas.

Are the portraits framed?

They do not come framed but the canvas is ready to hang when it’s arrives to you. The sides are fully finished. If you’d like Lacy’s husband Chris to make a custom, modern Floating Frame from real wood, please let Lacy know and she’ll quote you separately for that.

Can I order prints of my custom pet portrait?

Yes! We love that you love your new painting. Lacy would be happy to digitize your painting into a print for you to share with your loved ones.

What’s the difference between The Original, The Modern, and the Full body styles?

We offer several different styles for you to choose from. The Original option features your pets face and it takes up most of the canvas. The Modern option features your pet’s face below lots of negative space, and the Full Body option shows everything you love about your pet - from head to toe.

What size canvas is most popular?

The most popularly option that folks gift others is the 10x20 in The Modern option. The most popular option folks book for themselves is the 16x20 in The Original
