I thought a lot about my native grandmother while painting this giant moose. She was an inupiaq woman and I can't imagine what her daily life in Alaska would have been like. I found myself daydreaming about her early years and visiting Teller, her small fishing village, some day.
Like all of the other animals and subjects of my art, this friendly giant was created using layer upon layer of paint to create interesting colors and textures throughout. Painted on a foggy blueish green background (Sherwin Williams' Drizzle is a very close match), this guy lends a natural and calming element to any space.
This Moose is an original painting on stretched canvas measuring 48 x 60 inches. It arrives ready to hang and installed in a custom floating frame in a modern, natural wood finish. Frame is included. All together, this piece measures 50 x 62 inches.
